Learn how to become the Leader of your Life!

Welcome Back

When we were walking through Wilamstad during Carnival we came across these colorful steps.

Hello and thank you for reading today’s podcast. My name is Tom, I am the host and creator of The Social Seed.

Let me ask you a question “would you like to have a better life, you just don’t know how to get it?

What if I told you that you can have it…you only have to dream it and apply the knowledge you already possess to live it!

With The Social Seed podcast I help you search within yourself, see your vision and become the person you are destined to be!

Every week I post a piece of literature I feel will inspire your mind, feed your soul and elevate –your life!

I wrote a poem titled the “Legend”
Which has become my mantra.

Be the Bee buzzing around, pollinating people with knowledge abound, creating fruit for all to feed, curing the world with a social seed.”

For this poem to become a legend I need you to also be the Bee – to inspire individuals with these weekly words of wisdom, to help them create a more happy and productive life. More importantly -a better world!

Current Events

Hello and welcome back, before I read this week’s Words of Wisdom, I’ll catch you up on my current events. It has been nice in Curacao. We have been exploring the island and starting first with the areas closest to us. From our boat we can see Fort Beekenburg, so this was an obvious destination. We didn’t know what to expect. So we left one afternoon with an open mind and walked to Fort Beekenburg. Although, the road to the entrance is not very obvious, we found our way. The family and I had a fun time adventuring the grounds. On the way to the fort we noticed the Caracas Baai, a beach with light clear blue water, had a yellow tape across the whole beach on the day we went there. We still went swimming at the other end where there was no tape and later found out that the beach was tapped off because of the Spanish Man-a-war Jellyfish was in the area. We had a fun time, but we were lucky. Finally on the weekend, we went to Wilamstad for Carnival. We went with high expectations, we have seen Carnival before in St. Martin and Greneda, and really wanted to see the dancing, costumes and of course the loud music. Unfortunately, we were not able to stay long enough to even see the first group. The last 6A Bus left Wilamstad at 5:00, so we had to leave. It was still a fun day.

This is where I will leave off for this week. Let’s listen to today’s Words of Wisdom and see if it is the seed that will grow inside of you and inspire –your life!

Words of Wisdom

“Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.”

Page 149 (The 7-Habits of Highly Effective People)

“Personal leadership is not a singular experience. It doesn’t begin and end with the writing of a personal mission statement. It is, rather, the ongoing process of keeping your vision and values before you and aligning your life to be congruent with those most important things. And in that effort, your powerful right brain capacity can be a great help to you on a daily basis as you work to integrate your personal mission statement into your life. It’s another application of “begin with the end in mind.”

“Because I am self-aware, because I have imagination and conscience, I can examine my deepest values. I can realize that the script I’m living is not in harmony with those values, that my life is not the product of my own proactive design, but the result of the first creation I have deferred to circumstances and other people. And I can change. I can live out of my imagination instead of my memory. I can tie myself to my limitless potential instead of my limiting past. I can become my own first creator.”

The Seed (POV)

So how do you become the leader of your life? That’s a question you need to really think about – No short answer here. You can listen to all the podcasts available and read a million books but they can only give you ideas and tricks to try. When it comes down to it, the answer lies within you. Only you can be the leader. No one else will be able to totally direct your life and give you all the answers. Also, you won’t get it completely right the first or 50 times, it’s a continual process that you’ll have to work on for life. Your values and mindset will change with experience as you age. New situations will always evolve. You have to always be evaluating “what is the right direction is for you” based on your beliefs. It’s not easy and it takes time but the time you spend on yourself will not only help you but everyone you know. You’ll become a more focused and happy individual as you get a new aha experience and grow new habits. Being a real leader of your life is probably the first and best step you can make for a happier self.
So now we are going to talk about the steps for you to take to be the leader of your life.

1. Journal and pencil
2. Life Mission Statement
Breaking down every role in your life:
• Mother
• Father
• Sister
• Brother
• Perfessional
• Coach
• Activities
• Bills
• Whatever else
• Person -What makes you happy?

3. Define every role. What’s important to you. How do you want to divide your time throughout each week to fill each area. By doing this, you put your whole life in front of you and keep working on it until you like your life and eventually you have your life’s mission statement or a guideline for the way you want to live. When you come to an area that you don’t like, this is where you get to use your creative mind and create/write the way you want it to be and how you’re going to make it that way. If you can’t make it right on paper, it’s never going to be right in life. So it may take time, but it’s worth it.

4. Meditate and think about your life. You become the creator. Pick a time when no one else will bother you. I usually work out and finish stretching on a yoga mat and go right into Meditation. This way your brain has plenty of oxygen and your mind is ready to work. Just relax and let whatever thoughts flow into your mind; don’t try and control them. When a thought comes into your mind, explore it a little. As soon as you’re done meditating; write your thoughts in a journal. These are called life inspirations and you learn that this will be the little angel on your shoulder guilding you to a better life.

5. Create a Vision Board
Create the Dream life you want to live. Where would you live? Are you married with kids? What does your house look like; is there a wrap-around deck with rocking chairs? Do you have pets, what are their names? Do you drive, what kind of car do you have? What do you do for healthy fun activities? What do you do to mentally stimulate your mind and stay educated? What kind of foods would you eat? How do you want to feel everyday? How are you going to make this happen?

6. Remember and instill in your mind some inspiration that motivates you. I use “When you most feel like quitting is the time you must continue advancing.” written by Robin Sharma from The 5AMClub.
