“You’re Self-Fulfilling Prophecy”eps.12

Welcome Back

Chelsea on the helm during our 5-day passage from Martinique to Curacao!

Hello and thank you for reading today’s podcast. My name is Tom, I am the host and creator of The Social Seed.
Let me ask you a question “would you like to have a better life, you just don’t know how to get it?
What if I told you that you can have it…you only have to dream it and apply the knowledge you already possess to live it!

With The Social Seed podcast I help you search within yourself, see your vision and become the person you are destined to be!

Every week I read a piece of literature I feel will inspire your mind, feed your soul and elevate –your life!

I wrote a poem titled the “Legend”
Which has become mantra.

Be the Bee buzzing around, pollinating people with knowledge abound, creating fruit for all to feed, curing the world with a social seed.”

For this poem to become a legend I need you to also be the Bee – to inspire individuals with these weekly words of wisdom, to help them create a more happy and productive life. More importantly -a better world!

Current Events

Welcome back to this week’s current events. What a wild 5 days we had sailing 521 nautical miles across the Caribbean Sea from Martinique to Curacao and dropping the anchor in Spanish Water. We were so happy to see land. During our passage we had a few highlights: 1.) We saw a few whales which was exciting and terrifying because they ate big and rare for us to see but brought up thoughts about whales attacking or hitting boats; and we really didn’t want to be in that situation. We also saw a few small porpoises that swam around our boat and one even did a tale flickering across the water act. We finally hoisted our spinnaker that we had on our boat for 4 years and it was amazing; we had light winds from 6-10 knots and we were owing roughly 1.5 knots lower than the wind speed. That only lasted for one full day before it wrapped around itself and we lowered it to the deck to untwist it. The next time we hoisted it up I forgot to wrap the haul-in line to a cleat and the boot flew all the way to the top of the mast and when I tried to get it down; I ripped the sail – that wasn’t good! I learned a good lesson that day. The halyard also somehow ended up wrapped around our wind generator; so I had to go up the mizzen mast to untangle the line while underway and rocking – that was exciting! The hardest part of the whole journey was hand steering. We all felt the pain in our arms and shoulders. Finally on day 3, the winds were really light with calm seas and we were heading dead down wind;  our sails were flopping and slamming back and forth so we decided to turn on the engine and use auto-helm. It was smooth sailing from that point or motoring.

This is where I will leave off for this week, let’s listen to today’s Words of Wisdom and see if it is the seed that will grow inside of you and inspire -your life!

WOW

“If you really loved yourself, you’d relinquish all your feelings of not being good enough to be great and renounce all slavery to your weakness. You’d stop focusing on your deficiencies and celebrate your amazing qualities. Just think about it: there’s no person on the planet today who has the unique stack of  gifts that you have. Actually, in all of history, there’s never been even one person exactly like you. And there never will be. Yes, you’re that special. That’s an indisputable fact. So, embrace the full force of your lavish talent, luminous strengths and breathtaking powers. Let go of the destructive habit of breaking the commitments you make to yourself. Failing to keep self-promises is one of the reasons so many of us don’t love ourselves. Not following through on what we tell ourselves we’ll do so destroys our sense of personal worth and dissolves our self-esteem. Keep behaving like that and the unconscious part of you will begin to believe you’re not worth anything. And remember the psychological phenomenon known as The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy I walked you through earlier. We always perform in a way that is aligned with the way we see ourselves. And so, our thinking creates our results. And the less we value ourselves and our powers,” he went on, “the less power we have access to.”

The Social Seed (POV)

What a powerful piece of literature. To “relinquish all your feelings of not being good enough to be great”. When I read this I thought about myself and what feelings of inadequacy I feel I have and why I might have them. I find it very interesting to self-evaluate because most of the time I evaluate everything around me. How are things going, what needs to be done, what’s next? So to internalize this reading and evaluate ME gave me a sense of ME. To stop thinking about everything that is going on and try to understand me more, to help me realize my true talents and skills and use them to become the most happy me that I can be – to be great! Also, to realize any excuses that I may give myself for not being able to accomplish something; like procrastinating, saying “I can do it tomorrow” or “I’m not good at that, so I don’t do it”. Unless we have a physical handicap, we all can do almost anything – we just need to give a full effort.
So start exploring yourself and renounce your slavery to any weakness you have and love yourself, realize and actualize your true talents and become the person you’re destined to be!

My wife came up with a brilliant idea for listener’s “to write the literature in a journal and write how it makes you feel”

I want to thank Robin Sharma for his inspirational writing and our Social Seed for this week.
